πΊ This weekβs theme: The Restart
In about 4 months, brace yourself for the onslaught of media and marketing encouraging you to fix everything thatβs wrong with you. One week later, you will proclaim βNEVERMORE!β as you surrender your vices and shortcomings to the universe, and restart the year committed to βthe new you.β
Now, let's be honest here. Slow blink twice if you've ever seen a New Year's resolution crumble within the first two weeks of January. ππππ
Let me ask you this: Why wait until December 31st to make a change? You've got way more runway if you start today instead of waiting 4 months.
Make today New Yearβs Eve
Youβve been wanting to give something up.
Youβve been wanting to start something new.
Youβve been wanting to change.
Donβt procrastinate in changing your lifeβremember, even though life offers us many chances to restart, those chances become fewer and fewer as we get older.
NYE resolutions are part of a social movement for sure, and many of us feel motivated and supported because we are part of a large group with similar goals. However, I encourage you to do the following:
Imagine being your future self on January 1. What would it feel like to wake up realizing that youβve had a 4-month head start on your New Yearβs resolution(s) versus waking up to your list, hungover and bloated? And, imagine you just got a text from your future self that reads, βThanks for bravely getting us on this path ASAP.β vs βWe really should have started sooner.β
Ultimately, the best time to make a resolution is when you are truly committed and prepared to follow through with it. Make that today.
